Once one of the players execute a long range hissatsu attack, the vertical bar that splits the two players will align to a horizontal position. Each one of the characters have different moves at close range, however once the battle goes long range it will start becoming a different game. The character selection is pretty vast, especially after entering the secret code in where Perfect Cell and the Super Saiyajin versions of Goku, Vegeta, Trunks and Gohan were made available. The famous dodge usually seen in the anime. When we got the basics on offense and defense, we were ready to face the CPU in story mode. Until we actually figured it out that it should be entered during the ready stance of the defending player. We have been trying to read the darn manual, but none of us actually knows Japanese. The frustrating part is when the computer starts dodging the long range hissatsu attacks or completely neutralizes it. Me and my cousin actually got a hang of the offensive controls, it was pretty easy to execute. It does not cause much damage, but it gives you time to run away.very far away. The dash attack can also be used as an offensive move to knock down your enemy. Dashing by using the L and R buttons would help cover the distances between the two players in a short amount of time. You cannot move during this time, which makes you open for attack. If you unleash one without the proper amount of ki, your character will end up tired. A certain amount of ki is the only way you can unleash long range hissatsu attacks. The sky level is the only part in the game where you can charge your ki by holding down on the D-pad. The stage also has two levels, the ground and the sky levels, you can shift planes by pressing the X button as long as you are a bit distant from the other character with a red line in the middle. A red line will indicate that the two are still close to each other, yellow will indicate that there is reasonable distance between the two to fire a long range hissatsu, and black will indicate that they are far from one another, some hissatsu attacks won't work from this distance. Once they do so, the screen is split into two, this will be indicated by a line in the middle of the screen. The arenas are wide and both competitors can go as far back as they want. *Note: I used the soundtrack cover since it looks much cleaner compared to the actual box. The Butoden series and Hyper Dimension was developed by TOSE, and not to be confused with the Budokai series which was developed by Dimps. It was named "Dragon Ball Z: Super Butoden" I had no idea that was what it was called that time, the only thing I really cared about was that it was Dragon Ball and it is going to be awesome. When we went back there in 1993, that was when I got my first Dragon Ball Z game. The both shows were shown again under GMA-7, this time it was shown in Taglish, then finally it was dubbed in the local language.Īnyway it was somewhere in 1991 when I got myself a Super Famicom when we went to Hong Kong. I believe during that time RPN-9 broadcasted the original Dragon Ball after that last episode where Vegeta said that historical line. It actually took three years before the battle of Goku and Nappa took place. "We wait for three more hours" -VegetaThat was the longest three hours of my life. We can still remember those last lines Vegeta mentioned. But I didn't actually care, It's Dragon Ball for pete's sake! They aired it until the invasion of Vegeta and Nappa on Earth. It was dubbed in English locally, so basically you can notice the Filipino accent of some of the voice actors. When it was aired in the Philippines under RPN-9, I was ecstatic, for the first time I would be able to understand the story. I don't understand a single word on it, but the art was awesome! I was an instant Akira Toriyama fan. I was immediately hooked to the darn thing. My mom usually brings home a bunch of Dragon Ball Z tankobons in chinese when she came from Hong Kong. These was a time when Dragon Ball Z was unknown in the Philippines. Hyper Dimension was not actually a part of the Butoden series, but I'll include it anyway. This is my Dragon Ball collection for the Super Famicom, I just can't remember where the Butoden 2 box went.

When I have more time on the console, I’ll tell you about my 4K video and Android TV, custom SHIELD, and GRID cloud games. The Google-Now based voice search also provided sports scores and weather and it worked really, really well. I am told that this is a Netflix decision, not Google. I liked that Hulu video content was indexed, but Netflix content was not. Voice search worked better than expected given the challenges with it in Android and worked as well or better than Amazon Fire TV and a lot better than my experiences with Siri. There’s also a virtual remote you can download from the Google Play store to turn your phone into a remote. I’m very nearsighted, need a giant display, and I literally just need to plug my headphones into the wireless controller and can watch History Channel documentaries without disrupting my wife. The headphone jack may save my marriage (figuratively speaking) as both my wife and I can watch different shows now and be in the same room. The speed of moving around the device is a combination of the Tegra X1 processor I know, but also involves the controllers, both which have volume control and a headphone jack. The WiFi-direct game controller ships standard and the Bluetooth remote is an add-on. While NVIDIA may cringe when I say this, my favorite feature so far about the SHIELD are the controllers. I also listened to my music that I keep in Google Play Music and it sounded really good. I’m really looking forward to the recently announced HBO Now and of course, Netflix 4K. My 70″ 4K TV gets delivered tonight and I may update this article if I find anything unexpected or interesting. I watched a ton of Netflix and Google Play TV video at 1080P resolution, even though it can do 4K. NVIDIA SHIELD is “cool” looking, but not nerdy, and my very stylish wife approves. Oh well, what us analysts do for tech! □ NVIDIA SHIELD is really thin, too, so thin that you could confuse it with a tablet. I dropped it on my foot and am pretty sure I will lose that toenail. The base is made from machined aluminum and isn’t going anywhere. The only recent product I’ve used that had that was Apple Watch. In fact, it’s the only product that uses these green “pull-tabs” to remove the packaging. SHIELD, Controller & Stand (Credit: NVIDIA)įirst of all, NVIDIA SHIELD packaging is very up-scale, something you would expect with an Apple product. I probably used it for 15-20 hours, and I have to say, I had a great experience so far. Because it rained so much last weekend, I literally had hours to spend with NVIDIA SHIELD. While the new 4K Apple TV is just speculation on my part and nothing else, I’ve had NVIDIA’s new SHIELD console for over a week and wanted to spend a little bit of time telling you about it. “The 2015 holidays could be the battle royale for 4K living room streamers. At WWDC the week after next, I expect Apple to unveil a 4K version of Apple TV that streams high quality iTunes content, but potentially has hooks for HomeKit control and light gaming. Microsoft could also throw HEVC (non-4K) onto the pile with Windows 10 for Xbox, which would make it even more interesting. NVIDIA is the apparent front-runner with their version of Android TV, which I wrote about here. I’ll talk more about my hands-on experiences with the NVIDIA SHIELD below. This isn’t Google’s first attempt, but their most promising so far. Google I/O, which was held this week, really kicks off what will be the latest fight for the cord-cutting living room between Google, Apple, Microsoft and their respective ecosystems.Īt Google I/O, Google gave more details on its Android TV platform and how it hopes to make a huge play for the living room, starting now. Every few years, the industry comes back and throws another wave of products into the living room to see if they stick. Devices either did too little, did too much, were hard to use and setup, didn’t have the right content or just didn’t have staying power to be relied on continuously. I’ve been connecting digital devices to my TVs for over 25 years now and outside of a few devices, interactivity has been a “less than perfect” experience.
